The Wall
The poor Millers. What
a pain has this wall been. Here's the thing. It kept falling over. They paid
thousands of dollars to have landscapers re-stack these huge flat stones that
comprise this wall, and those massive things would still fall into our yard.
The kids were forbidden from going anywhere near this wall for years. Here's
another thing. The Millers can't even see the wall. It faces away from
their house and it is obscured by their large bushes. We love the wall.
It's attractive. It adds a nice element to the landscaping. But every once in
a while, I'd look out there and see a stone had toppled.
Finally, this year, I decided I would end the madness of the falling wall/stones. I bought a couple 4-foot lengths of rebar, re-stacked the stones, and then drove the rebar into the ground and up against those stones with a sledgehammer. Then I saw that it was good. And I rested.
